Watchband Length Chart (all lengths are approximate, some styles may vary) How to calculate watchband length: Watchband length can be calculated by subtracting the watch head measurement from your wrist size. NOTE: The average watch head is about 1" to 1 1/2" for larger men's watches.

Band Thickness. The average male wrist size is about 7.5 inches. Most watch bands will easily fit anyone. However, if you have an especially large or small wrist, you might want to consider your band when choosing the right watch for you. For instance, if you have a thicker wrist, you might have to buy extra links for the bracelet.
Case size is an importantfactor in the watch style. On average,men's watches have a case width or diameterof at least 35 millimeters,which is just under 1.4 inches.Women's watches typicallyhave a case width or diameterof between less than 34 millimeters;however, watches are trendingtowards crystal.larger case sizes for both men and women.

3. Watch Band Width. A well proportioned watch usually has a band width of about half its case diameter. If you wear a 40mm watch, the width should be approximately 20mm in width. Depending on your style preference you may want to wear a watch with a wider band width. My preference is for smaller band widths, however, I do have smaller wrists.
As with jewelry, watch bands are manufactured to standard lengths. For women, the standard is between 6 3/4 inches and 8 inches, depending on the style and manufacturer. For men, the standard watch band measures between 7 3/4 inches and 9 1/2 inches, again, depending on the style and manufacturer.
Determining your strap size in 3 Easy Steps: #1 - Use a standard ruler that offers a Centimeter side. Always measure in Centimeters as Inches are too large for an accurate conversion to Millimeters. #2 - Measure the space between your watches lugs.

Don't include the buckle when measuring the short strap.
